20"x20" original oil of Poe's Tavern, Isle of Palms, on gallery-wrapped canvas by Nicole Seitz

For an artist, author, and foodie like me, Poe's Tavern on Sullivan's Island hits all the right notes. Serving casual fare by the beach (love the tuna tacos), Poe's is a funky shrine to the late Gothic poet Edgar Allan Poe, who was stationed at Fort Moultrie in 1827-28. Everywhere you look there's an image related to Poe, and I wanted to capture this moment, a juxtaposition of past, present and humor in "These Nachos are Nevermore." Can't you just hear The Raven, Annabel Lee or The Tell-tale Heart?

In my new Holy City Hospitality series, I want to show you something you've seen of Charleston, but in a slightly different way. It's the people...the humans...who make our amazing hospitality scene. It's an honor to share my experiences and vision. Hope you like them.
